What is Kybella?

Kybella or Deoxycholic acid is also known as cholanoic acid. It is one of the secondary bile acids produced as a metabolic byproduct of intestinal bacteria. Its chemical formula is C24H40O4. Kybella is an aesthetic injectable treatment used to treat submental fats by destroying them to give proper contour and appearance to your chin and overall facial symmetry. Kybella comes under the category of cytolytic medication, which destroys the cells present in fatty tissues.

Who is an ideal candidate for kybella injections?

Will client need time to recover ?

Be sure to inform your healthcare professional if you develop an uneven smile, facial muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing or injection site problems such as bruising, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), and damage and tissue cell-death (necrosis) around the injection site. Procedure

After consultation , client will be marked on treated area and numbed for 20 mins ,you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.

 

How long does the effect last?

Contradictions

  • If you are pregnant and breastfeeding, don't go for the kybella administration. (It is still unknown either kybella harms your baby or not. Also, it is not known either it passes in breast milk or not)

  • If you have difficulty swallowing and bleeding disorders, you must discuss this with your doctor/dermatologist.

  • It is necessary to discuss some medical abnormality with your dermatologist in or near the chin area and if you have had or plan to have a face, neck, or chin aesthetic/rejuvenating surgery.

  • If you are taking an anticoagulant, antiplatelet, herbal medications, or vitamins, it must be considered by your dermatologist before getting into treatment.

+ How is Kybella administered?

Kybella injections are given in an office setting. You may resume your everyday activities before and after the injection procedure, as the whole process takes about fifteen to twenty minutes. Your health care provider will apply the local anesthesia before kybella injection to aid in your comfort. The doctor will also ask you to have pain reliever medication before getting the injection and provide you ice packs after the injection process to soothe the injection area.

+ How many treatment sessions are required for Kybella?

The distribution of fat around or under the chin area and your personal aesthetic goals determines how many treatment sessions you will need. Up to six injections with a gap of not less than a month are necessary to complete submental fat cells destruction and get a more contoured and trimmed appearance of your chin, face, and neck.

Though kybella is a non-surgical and non-invasive contouring procedure, a few minor to severe side effects are associated with the treatment, which is as follows;
