Laser Hair Removal

Bye Bye
unwanted hair!

If you're sick of your unwanted hair that keeps coming back from waxing and shaving, Laser Hair Removal might be the perfect treatment for you.

In essence, Laser Hair Removal is a medical procedure that uses laser technology to remove unwanted hair in specific areas of the body such as legs, armpits, chin, upper lip and the bikini line.

What you need to know…

Laser Hair Removal Benefits

  • Targets dark, coarse hairs and can leave the surrounding area of the skin undamaged

  • It's a speedy procedure as laser can treat the targeted area per quarter every second.

  • The effects of hair removal using laser are long-lasting. Hair can take weeks or months to grow back, and with every subsequent session, the hair takes much longer to reappear. And even when it does grow back, the hair is so much thinner and sparser than before.

Procedure

Application of a numbing medicine will be applied 20-30 minutes before the procedure to lessen the discomfort from the laser.

The laser will then be moved across the skin area - where it will be adjusted according to the hair's color, thickness and location.

FAQs

+ How bad do the treatments hurt?

Across your treatments, laser technicians will customize the laser settings for you to maximize your results.

In the early treatments, the intensity of the laser will be lower, so the pain will be almost non-existent; it feels similar to being pricked with a pin. The discomfort is generally very short lived, and disappears almost instantly after the pulse from the laser. As the treatments progress, the intensity of the laser will increase, as will the discomfort; at its worst, the pain is comparable to getting snapped by a rubber band. We has invested in devices called Diode laser with newese chilling system to cooling down the area while lasering to help minimize the discomfort, If pain is a major concern for you, we have numbing cream available for purchase which includes Lidocaine and helps to greatly reduce sensitivity.

+ How effective are the treatments?

At Eyecandy Rejuvanation uses the most latest Didode lasers which is the best lasers on the market, and are extremely effective at treating all skin types and tones. They are FDA approved, and are capable of permanently removing unwanted hair. Clients can see between 10-30% permanent reduction in hair growth per treatment with these lasers. Unfortunately, as advanced as these lasers are, they are not effective at treating clients with lighter facial hair. Clients who have blonde, red, or gray facial hair may be able to see some reduction in hair growth, but they are unlikely to see more than a 45% reduction in overall hair growth.

+ Are the results permanent?

Laser hair removal doesn't guarantee permanent hair removal. When hair regrows, it's usually finer and lighter in color. You might need maintenance laser treatments for long-term hair reduction.

+ What should I do to prepare for my treatments?

We encourage clients avoid sun exposure for 7 days before your treatment, which means wearing sunscreen, and avoiding the sun as best as you can; avoid any physical activity that increases body temperature for at least 2 hours before your appointments; and if you are on any prescription drugs, make sure that you contact your doctor to see if they can increase photosensitivity. For a complete list of everything you can do to prepare for your treatments, check out our pre and post care instructions.

+ Do I have to shave my facial hair, and if I do, won't that make the hair grow in thicker and darker?

Unfortunately, yes you do need to shave your facial hair in preparation for your laser treatment. The reason for this is that we need for the hair follicle and root to be intact so that the laser can destroy it; which is why waxing, tweezing, and epilating are not allowed. We also want to minimize the amount of hair that is above the surface of the skin, because having hair above the skin greatly increases the chance of an adverse reaction, so shaving is the only option that fits all of these criteria for removing facial hair.

As for shaving making facial hair grow in thicker and darker, that is just a myth. People have the perception that the hair is growing in thicker because when you shave it cuts the hair off in the middle, so when the rest of the hair pushes out, it is the thicker, darker part of the hair follicle that already existed under the surface of your skin.

+ How long does the appointment take?

Facial hair removal appointments take 5-10 minutes depending on the areas that you are treating.

+ What happens after the treatment?

After the treatment, most people will experience slight redness and swelling similar to a mild sunburn. This generally subsides shortly after treatment, but can last up to 72 hours; topical creams such as restorative gel, aloe, calamine or hydrocortisone may be applied to help reduce the inflammation.

After a few days, you may see the facial hair begin to fall out, or shed; if you shave regularly, you may not notice the actual shedding of the hair. Exfoliating the area 12 hours or more after your appointment can speed up the shedding process, and will help prevent ingrown hairs.

+ What can I do to maximize the effectiveness of the treatments?

Following the pre and post care instructions as well as any special instructions from your nurse is the best way to maximize the results from your treatments.

Make sure that you keep an open dialogue with your laser technician of any updates on how your body is reacting to the treatments and your facial hair growth, as this information will help them to make the best decisions on how to adjust your settings and treatment intervals to make sure that all of your treatments are as effective as they can be.

+ What are the potential side effects of the treatments?

Side effects are uncommon in laser hair removal treatments, but they can cause permanent discoloration of the skin if they are not treated properly. If you experience any side effects, such as hypo- or hyper-pigmentation, prolonged redness or swelling, a histamine reaction, or blistering, you should call or come in for instructions on treatment.

The most common reason that people experience these side effects is if they have had sun exposure that they have failed to disclose before their appointments. Being completely honest with your laser technician severely decreases your chances of having an adverse reaction to the laser treatments.
